abstract The purpose of the present invention is to provide a novel organic compound. In addition, the present invention addresses the problem of providing a novel light-emitting element. The purpose of the present invention is also to provide a light-emitting element having excellent light emission efficiency. The purpose of the present invention is additionally to provide a light-emitting element having excellent longevity. The purpose of the present invention is further to provide a light-emitting element having a low driving voltage. Provided are a dibenzo[c,g]carbazole derivative represented by general formula (G1), and a light-emitting element using the same. In the formula, at least one of radicals R 11 to R 22 represents a substituent group having 14–60 carbon atoms in total and containing a polynuclear aromatic hydrocarbon skeleton having three to six rings, with the remaining radicals each independently representing hydrogen, a C1–6 alkyl group, a C3–6 cycloalkyl group, or a C6–25 substituted or unsubstituted aryl group.
