abstract | Provided is a gas sensor capable of achieving low cost, size reduction, and low power consumption, and reducing the interference caused by interfering gas species. Disclosed is a work function-type gas sensor comprising: a first noble metal layer which is in an electrically floating state and formed on a first gate insulating film formed on the main surface of a semiconductor substrate; a first metal oxide layer having ionic conductivity; a second metal oxide layer having a catalytic action on nitric oxide; and a first gate layer composed of a laminated film including a second noble metal layer connected to an external power source. The first noble metal layer and the second noble metal layer are respectively formed below and above the first metal oxide layer, the second metal oxide layer is formed either above or below the first metal oxide layer, and the surface of the first noble metal layer and the surface of the second noble metal layer are exposed to the atmosphere directly or via the second metal oxide layer. |
