The object of the invention is to provide a novel luminescent element with high luminous efficiency. More specifically, the invention provides a luminescent element in which a cathode, an electron transport layer, a luminescent layer and an anode are arranged in order. The luminescent element may also have an electron injection layer between said cathode and said electron transport layer. Said electron transport layer contains an electron transport material, and particles of average particle diameter (Z) obtained by dynamic scattering of the light greater than 100 nm and less than or equal to 300 nm. The refractive index (n1) of a light of 550 nm wavelength of a material configuring said particles, and the refractive index (n2) of a light having a wavelength of 550 nm; electron transport, satisfy the relationship n1-n2> -0,15, the root mean square roughness at the interface between said electron transport layer and said cathode or said electron injection layer is greater than or equal to at 5nm. |
