abstract |
The invention relates to the technical field of tumor metastasis and peritumoral lymphangiogenesis. Specifically, podoplanin on a subset of tumor-associated macrophages has been identified as a target for the treatment or inhibition of tumor metastasis and peritumoral lymphangiogenesis, and podoplanin positive macrophages have been identified as biomarkers for lymphatic metastasis. The invention further provides assay methods for identifying compounds capable of neutralizing podoplanin positive macrophages, and methods and kits for tumor analysis or lymphatic vessel analysis. |
