titleOfInvention HIGH DYNAMIC AND FAST DYNAMIC IMAGE ACQUISITION WITH A CHARGING TRANSFER DEVICE (DTC) CAMERA
abstract Systems and methods provide fast image acquisition with a DTC camera for tomographic imaging by synchronization of illumination with the image acquisition sequence of the DTC camera. The systems and methods of the present invention provide for acquiring images with a DTC camera using short image acquisition times that would otherwise lead to the introduction of severe artifacts into the acquired images. This unique capability is achieved by selectively illuminating the object (s) to be imaged during specific phases of the DTC camera that are used to acquire an image. Reducing the time required to acquire artifact-free images in this way allows for quick imaging with a DTC camera. This ability is particularly relevant for tomographic imaging approaches, in which multiple images of one or more objects are acquired and used to produce a single tomographic image.
