abstract | The invention provides a hydrophobic silica powder and toner resin particles to which this hydrophobic silica powder is added externally. The hydrophobic silica powder has an inhibition of the elimination of an electrification regulating agent such as a quaternary ammonium salt on a surface having an electrification regulating function, and makes it possible to confer electrification properties in a range suitable for externally added toner particles of hydrophobic silica particles. More specifically, the invention provides a hydrophobic silica powder which is characterized in that (1) its degree of hydrophobicity is greater than or equal to 50%, (2) the extraction amount (X) of at least one a compound selected from a group consisting of a quaternary ammonium ion, a monoazo complex and a mineral acid ion, using a mixed solvent based on methanol and an aqueous solution of methanesulfonic acid, is greater than or equal to 0.1% by weight, and (3) said value (X) and the extraction amount (Y) by means of a water satisfy the formula (I) Y / X < 0.15 (I). |
