The present invention relates to a process based on ambient ions of autonomous 2D metal sheets consisting of naked NP at the air-liquid interface. An electro-hydrodynamic flow field is generated by electrospray deposition on the surface of the liquid, which, in turn, assists the assembly of the NP. NP-NS were manufactured under ambient conditions at room temperature from metal salt precursors. The sheets may consist of different elements such as Pd, Au and Ag. The synthesized 2D NP-NSs have been used as efficient and reusable heterogeneous catalysts in C-C bond formation reactions. These thin metal foils can also be used as catalysts, sensors, gas adsorption media, electrodes in electrochemical reactions, and the like. |
