The present invention relates to a semi-aromatic polyamide, process for preparing it and a polyamide molding composition containing said semi-aromatic polyamide. The concentration of isolated terephthalic acid contained in the semi-aromatic polyamide resin is less than 200 ppm. Said semi-aromatic polyamide resin is formed from the following repeating units: a) a terephthalic acid or its derivative and optionally one or more additional aromatic or aliphatic diacids; b) one or more aliphatic diamines having 10 to 20 carbon atoms, and optionally one or more additional diamines; c) optionally one or more carboxylic and / or lactam amino acids, the terephthalic acid representing 50-100 mol% of a), having 10-20 carbon atoms representing 50-100 mol% in the aliphatic diamines b), which represent 0-25 mol% of the total of a) + b) + c).
