abstract |
The present technology relates to depots for the treatment of postoperative pain associated with orthopedic surgery by sustained and controlled release of an analgesic. In some embodiments, the deposition may comprise a therapeutic region comprising an analgesic, and a regulatory region comprising a bioabsorbable polymer and a release agent mixed with the polymer. The releasing agent may be designed to dissolve when the deposit is placed in vivo to form diffusion openings in the regulatory region. The depot may be designed to be implanted at a treatment site associated with orthopedic surgery and, while implanted, release the analgesic at the treatment site for at least 3 days to treat postoperative pain associated with the treatment site. orthopedic surgery. |
