The present invention relates to dye molecules and staining compositions comprising said dye molecules that are particularly suitable for the selective staining of biological substrates, such as structures in the posterior eye segment and proteins. The dye molecules can be used in ophthalmic surgery to assist the surgeon in visualizing structures in posterior ocular structures as well as in protein assays to determine one or more analytical parameters of a protein. The present invention also relates to a method for synthesizing dye molecules. |
