The present invention relates to a radical scavenger, its manufacturing method, a membrane-electrode assembly comprising it and to a fuel cell comprising it. The membrane-electrode assembly comprises: an ion exchange membrane; catalyst electrodes disposed on both surfaces of the ion exchange membrane, respectively; and a radical sensor disposed at any position selected from the group consisting of the interior of the catalyst electrodes, the interior of the ion exchange membrane, between the ion exchange membrane and the catalyst electrodes, and a combination thereof. The membrane-electrode assembly can improve the chemical durability of the ion exchange membrane, minimize the ionic conductivity loss of the ion exchange membrane itself, prevent the chemical deterioration of the ion exchange membrane occurring during long-term operation of the fuel cell, to guarantee excellent long-term performance, and to be used for general use regardless of the type of ion exchange membrane, such as an ion-exchange membrane based on fluorine or an ion exchange membrane based on hydrocarbons. |
