abstract The present invention relates to a method and computer program for estimating a bilirubin level of a newborn, comprising the steps of: acquiring a series of bilirubin levels estimated at different times from a sample obtained from of a newborn, acquiring a plurality of covariates from the neonate, each comprising information about a neonatal property, providing a predefined bilirubin model function, the bilirubin model function being configured to describe a time course of bilirubin level of a newborn, determination of a plurality of model parameters of the bilirubin model function, each model parameter being estimated from at least one covariate of the plurality of covariates and an associated population model parameter, determination from the acquired bilirubin level series and the function of mo Bilirubin dela with determined model parameters, a predicted bilirubin level of the newborn for a time, especially subsequent to bilirubin finally acquired level of bilirubin level series.
