abstract |
The present invention relates to a process for the selective production of 1-butene which comprises combining at least one anti-fouling agent and at least one alkyl aluminum compound to form an antifouling feed stream, contacting the antifouling agent with the an alkyl aluminum compound forming at least one anti-fouling co-catalyst in a first step. The antifoulant co-catalyst according to the invention may comprise a structure comprising a central aluminum molecule linked to a group R1, a group R2 and a group R3. The method also includes feeding the antifouling feed stream, a catalyst comprising at least one titanate compound, and ethylene into a reactor to dimerize the ethylene in a second step. The catalyst is fed as a separate stream from the antifouling feed stream. The feeds may be modified in real time to adjust a ratio of the antifoulant co-catalyst formed and the residual alkyl aluminum compound or antifoulant in the antifouling feed stream. |
