abstract |
A method for improving viscosity control while maintaining or improving control of deposits in an engine or other mechanical component lubricated with a lubricating oil by using an oil formulated as a lubricant. lubricating oil. The formulated oil has a composition comprising a lubricating base oil as a major component and at least one polymeric amine antioxidant as a minor component. The polymeric amine antioxidant (s) is the polymerization reaction product of one or more unsubstituted or hydrocarbyl-substituted diphenylamines, one or more unsubstituted or hydrocarbyl-substituted naphthylphenylamines, or both one or more non-substituted diphenylamine. substituted or hydrocarbyl substituted with one or more unsubstituted or hydrocarbyl substituted phenylnaphthylamines. The lubricating oil base material is present in an amount of from 1 to 85 percent by weight and the polymeric amine antioxidant (s) is present in an amount of from 0.1 to 5 percent by weight. |
