abstract Disclosed is a transfer ink jet printing method comprising applying a radiation curable primer to an intermediate transfer member of an inkjet printer to form a curable primer layer by radiation; projecting a radiation curable ink jet ink onto the radiation curable primer layer on the intermediate transfer member to form an image; irradiating the radiation curable ink jet ink and the radiation curable primer on the intermediate transfer member to form an at least partially cured image; and transferring the at least partially cured image to a substrate to form a printed substrate. The invention also relates to a transfer ink jet printer designed, in use, to implement the method.
