abstract The present invention relates to a method for ex vivo increase of insulin content in pancreatic progenitor cells. The method comprises (a) contacting said pancreatic progenitor cells with a BRE mod amenity and extraterminal domain (BET) motif inhibitor and with an agent selected from the group consisting of an inhibitor of the NOTCH pathway, an inhibitor the TGF-beta pathway and an inhibitor of the WNT pathway under conditions that increase the insulin content in said pancreatic progenitor cells; and (b) analyzing the amount of insulin in, or secreted by, said pancreatic cells.
