The present invention relates to hypodermic needle devices with a dose delivery mechanism, as well as methods of using such hypodermic needle devices. The dose delivery mechanism, which may be an electronically controlled pump, may be used to measure a specific dosage amount of a drug while taking into account environmental factors, such as temperature and pressure. This allows the device to be used by patients who agree to self-administer a drug since a specific dosage amount of the drug can be precisely administered regardless of the environmental conditions at the time of administration. The specific dosage amount can be set using the device or remotely, and a fingerprint sensor can be used to prevent injection of the drug to the wrong patient. |
