abstract |
The present invention relates, in certain aspects, to polymers and in particular to farnesene polymers functionalized with one or more oxirane group (s), and optionally one or more hydroxyl group (s). One aspect of the invention relates to an epoxidized and optionally hydroxyl functional polyfarnesene. The epoxidized farnesene polymer has a side chain and / or a main backbone functionalized by at least one oxirane group, and optionally at least one hydroxyl-functional end group. Another aspect of the invention relates to a process for preparing an epoxidized and optionally hydroxyl functional polyfarnesene. The process comprises epoxidation of a farnesene polymer, which optionally may contain one or more terminal hydroxyl groups, to functionalize a side chain and / or a main skeleton of the farnesene polymer with an oxirane group. |
