An exhaust manifold assembly having a thermal barrier coating for an opposed piston engine. This exhaust manifold assembly reduces heat rejection to the coolant, while increasing exhaust temperatures, fuel efficiency, and stopping post-combustion exhaust gas treatment faster. The exhaust manifold assembly may include a coating on the interior surface of the manifold assembly. The coated exhaust manifold assembly can provide structural strength of the exhaust manifold assembly over a wider operating temperature range. |
