abstract The present invention relates to alloys used to prepare low-strain steel pipes for use in chemical engineering applications. In particular, the invention relates to alloys of low carbon and aluminum steel and pipes made from such alloys. They can be used in installations such as ethylene cracking furnaces which must be able to withstand oxidation and carburation at high temperatures for prolonged periods, the alloy being able to develop on its surface an oxide layer of pure, stable and continuous aluminum, which is protective and has anti-coking properties when in use.
