abstract | The invention relates to water-based acrylic adhesive compositions comprising (A) an acrylic emulsion comprising an acrylic copolymer particle dispersed in an aqueous medium, (B) a crosslinking agent comprising a hydrophilic aliphatic isocyanate, and (C) a silane compound incorporated in the crosslinking agent (B). According to some embodiments, the silane compound (C) incorporated in the crosslinking agent (B) is selected from the group consisting of (3-glycidyloxypropyl) trimethoxysilane, 3- (triethoxysilyl) propyl isocyanate, and their combinations. Methods for the preparation of such water-based acrylic adhesive compositions are also disclosed. The invention further relates to methods for preparing a laminate structure suitable for use in a flexible food packaging article. The invention also relates to flexible food packaging articles comprising the described water-based acrylic adhesive compositions. |
