The present invention relates to cis-polycycloolefins and methods for forming cis-polycycloolefins generally containing 50% or more cis-carbon-carbon double bonds, comprising contacting a first cyclic hydrocarbyl monomer with a catalyst represented by the formula (I): wherein M represents a Group 8 metal; Q1, Q2 and Q3 independently represent an oxygen or sulfur atom; each R1 and R4 represents a halogen atom; R9 represents a C1-C40 hydrocarbyl or substituted C1-C40 hydrocarbyl group; and each R2, R3, R5, R6, R7, R8, R10, R11, R12, R13, R14, R15, R16, R17, R18 and R19 independently represents a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, a C1-hydrocarbyl group; -C40 or substituted hydrocarbyl C1-C40. In at least one embodiment, a polycyclopentene comprises 50% or more cis-carbon double bonds. |
