abstract | The present invention relates to the field of molecular methods of diagnosis and prognosis for pathologies. Specifically, the invention relates to a method of diagnosis / prognosis based on multivariable predictive models generated from the levels of distinct combinations of pro-inflammatory cytokines (IL1alfa, IL1beta and IL17A) and anti-inflammatory drugs (IFNgamma, IL2, IL12p70 , IL3, IL4, IL5, IL10 and IL3) in tissue or oral fluids for the diagnosis of periodontal diseases, their progression and their response to different therapeutic interventions. In one particular example, these combinations of cytokines demonstrated excellent ability to differentiate (≥95%) the presence of chronic periodontitis from a gingival / periodontal health situation as well as accuracy percentages ≥92% in the majority combinations. |
