titleOfInvention METHOD OF CAPTURING TARGET CELLS OR MOLECULES IN SOLUTION
abstract The invention relates to a method for capturing target cells or molecules in solution, comprising the steps of: (I) introducing a medium containing said target cells or molecules into an apparatus comprising a capture device for capturing said target cells or molecules ; (II) causing said medium to flow through said capture device; (III) remove debris, cells and unbound molecules; (IV) causing said target cells or molecules to detach from the capture device; and (V) collecting said target cells or molecules; said capture device comprising at least one functionalized mesh comprising a meshed substrate and a functional layer formed on said meshed substrate, said functional layer comprising capture substances that can bind specifically to said target cells or molecules. The method has a high specificity, as well as a high yield, and is suitable for capturing cells or molecules in a solution or expressed on the surface of cell membranes. It is particularly suitable for capturing and sorting circulating tumor cells.
