abstract The present invention relates to a composition containing a larva extract of Allomyrina dichotoma as an active ingredient for improving skin wrinkles or for moisturizing the skin. More specifically, the Allomyrina dichotoma larva extract has practically no cytotoxicity, increases the hyaluronic acid content which improves skin hydration, reduces the amount of transepidermal water loss that has been increased due to UV rays, increases skin hydration, reduces skin thickness, reduces the amount of expression of MMP-1 and MMP-9 proteins, and regulates the amount of protein expression associated with the enhancement of skin wrinkles. Therefore, the composition according to the present invention can be used as a functional health food composition for improving skin wrinkles or moisturizing the skin or as a pharmaceutical composition for preventing or treating wrinkles in the skin.
