abstract |
The present invention relates to an apparatus and method for on-site production of a sterilizing gas and sterilization of articles. In a first step of the process, an alcohol is catalytically converted to an alkene oxide. Subsequently, the alkene oxide is mixed with a water vapor and nitrogen-containing inert gas, whereby a sterilizing gas is produced. Finally, the articles are sterilized with the sterilization gas. Throughout the process only at least one alcohol and one oxygen and nitrogen containing gas are used as starting materials. In addition, the present invention also relates to a device in which the method can be carried out. |
