abstract |
The invention relates to polyurethane adhesives with two latent parts. Part 1 comprises one or more polyisocyanates and part 2 comprises one or more compounds containing isocyanate-reactive groups, one or more blocked catalysts comprising a blocked amine group, the blocked amine group being a tertiary amine or a secondary ketimine, and one or more zinc co-catalysts. The blocked amine group (s) dissociate upon contact with the polyisocyanate (s) and the unblocked amine groups catalyze the reaction of the isocyanates with isocyanate-reactive groups. The zinc co-catalyst (s) confer latency to the composition as revealed by a long open time. The invention also relates to methods of bonding substrates using adhesives. |
