abstract The invention relates to conserved epitopes selected from EV71 and CVA16, the two main agents responsible for FMD have been used to develop a subunit divalent vaccine antigen structure. The vaccine described in the present invention is capable of providing cross-protection against various infectious strains of EV71 and CVA16. The invention further relates to the expression of the gene encoding the multi-epitope vaccine antigen and its purification method. The present invention also relates to vaccine formulations against foot-and-mouth disease and other enterovirus infections comprising the recombinant vaccine antigen structure of the present invention.
