The present invention relates to a hydrophobic, water-immiscible, echo-transparent image enhancement composition wherein the composition becomes echogenic when expanded with air or gas bubbles formed by mechanical insertion (i.e. ) air or gas; or (ii) an aqueous solution containing air or gas in the hydrophobic, water-immiscible composition. The present invention also relates to a hydrophilic, water-immiscible expanded echoic image enhancement composition optionally comprising an aqueous solution forming a single phase, said composition comprising air or gas bubbles retained in the composition, and the volume ratio of the aqueous solution to the hydrophobic, water-immiscible composition is preferably in the range of 0: 100 (i.e., no aqueous solution) to 75:25, preferably from 0: 100 to 60:40. |
