abstract |
The present invention relates to an insect trap (1) which may comprise a first housing (10); a reservoir (40) at least partially defined by the first housing (10); a projection disposed within the reservoir (40) and extending inwardly from an interior surface of the first housing (10), the projection (42) being adapted to pierce a package disposed therein the tank (40); an actuator (44) connected to the projection (42) such that when the actuator (44) is moved, the protrusion (42) moves with the actuator (44) within the reservoir (40) ; a second housing (60) movably engaged with the first housing (10); a trap chamber (70) partially formed by the first and second housing (10, 60); an inlet (72) in the trap chamber (70); and the second housing (60) being movable between a first position in which the inlet (72) is open and a second position in which the inlet (72) is closed. The trap (1) may comprise a package (152) enclosing an attractive composition. The package (152) has a release rate of the attractive composition of about 5 μg per day to about 500 μg per day. |
