More particularly, the invention relates to a non-naturally occurring microorganism, which has been genetically engineered to express or comprise a first enzyme and a second enzyme, said first enzyme being a methanol dehydrogenase ( Mdh ) enzyme or a methanol oxidase ( Mox ) enzyme, and said second enzyme being a dihydroxyacetone synthase enzyme ( Das ) or a transketolase enzyme. The invention also relates to means and applications, more particularly to kits and methods, which comprise or utilize said microorganism.
