abstract The invention relates to a method for manipulating a microdroplet of a reaction medium in an immiscible carrier medium with a target molecule bound to a solid support in order to effect a chemical transformation. The method comprises: (a) contacting the microdroplet with the solid support under conditions allowing the combination of the microdroplet and the solid support, (b) allowing the reaction medium to react with the target molecule and (c) then exert a force to cause the detachment of the reaction medium from the solid support and the reformation of a microdroplet in the carrier fluid. According to one embodiment, the solid support is a particle, a ball or the like.
