titleOfInvention | Liquid crystal display device |
abstract | The present invention provides a liquid crystal display device which has high luminance and has suppressed power consumption by improvement of efficiency of light usage. The present invention is a liquid crystal display device provided with, in order: a first absorption type polarizing plate (10); a liquid crystal panel (100) which has, in order from the first absorption type polarizing plate side, a first substrate (20), a liquid crystal layer (30), and a second substrate (40); a second polarizing plate (50); and a backlight unit (200) which has a reflection plate (60), wherein the second substrate has a reflection layer (46) arranged so as to face the second polarizing plate, and the transmittance of polarized light that vibrates in a direction parallel to the transmission axis of the second polarizing plate is larger than the transmittance of polarized light that vibrates in a direction parallel to the transmission axis of the first absorption type polarizing plate. |
