abstract |
Provided are: a film which is suitably used as an optical film in an image display device and has excellent optical homogeneity; and a method for producing the same. Also provided is an evaluation method with which it is possible to evaluate the optical homogeneity of a film more precisely than with conventional evaluation methods. This film is a cast film containing a resin having a weight-average molecular weight of 200,000 or more. In a film reciprocal space image obtained by Fourier transformation of a projection image obtained by a projection method using the film, line profiles in a direction h and a direction v which are perpendicular to each other are respectively referred to as line profile h and line profile v. In a background reciprocal space image obtained by Fourier transformation of a background image obtained by the projection method without using the film, line profiles in a direction h' and a direction v' which are perpendicular to each other are respectively referred to as line profile h' and line profile v'. The maximum intensity of a line profile (h-h') obtained by subtracting the line profile h' from the line profile h is referred to as Y mh , a value X max obtained by subtracting the median X cen of all frequencies of a blank-corrected line profile from the frequency at which the maximum intensity Y mh is obtained is referred to as X mh , the maximum intensity of a line profile (v-v') obtained by subtracting the line profile v' from the line profile v is referred to as Y mv , and a value X max obtained by subtracting the median X cen of all frequencies of a blank-corrected line profile from the frequency at which the maximum intensity Y mv is obtained is referred to as X mv . Both Y mh and Y mv are 30 or less and Y mh , Y mv , X mh and X mv satisfy a specific formula. |
