titleOfInvention Biomarker molecules for sarcopenia and uses thereof
abstract The present invention relates to the identification of novel protein biomarkers for the detection and monitoring of sarcopenia in humans, in the absence of any underlying disease which could affect muscle mass or muscular strength. It is in particular demonstrated that specific forms of the non- mature Cathepsin D protein are significantly overexpressed in sarcopenia patients. The present invention additionally describes methods and devices to assay said biomarker molecules in human samples, and provide means for generating binding agents against said biomarker molecules.
