abstract Disclosed is a synthetic method for a biodegradable ternary copolyester, i.e. poly(butylene adipate-co-succinate-co-terephthalate). In the method, a binary catalytic system with organic guanidine as a main catalyst is used, and a dihydric alcohol, i.e. 1,4-butanediol (BDO), and a mixture of three diacids: terephthalic acid (TA), 1,4-succinic acid (SA) and 1,6-adipic acid (AA), are also used, and a dehydration oligomerization (DOP) procedure, a melt polycondensation (MP) procedure, and a solid state polycondensation (SSP) procedure are performed to synthesize the poly(butylene adipate-co-succinate-co-terephthalate) (PBAST). The used binary highly efficient catalytic system has a high catalytic activity, the amount of the catalyst is less, and the polymerization reaction time is short. The synthesized PBAST has good environmental degradability and biodegradability. The new ternary biodegradable copolyester has good molecular structure controllability and synthetic process repeatability.
