Integrating electronics into the stopper of a cartridge |
abstract |
A stopper (300) is configured to be disposed within a medical cartridge (600) includes a shell (302) defining a cavity (758) and an exterior surface sized and shaped to fit inside the medical cartridge (600) and an insert (304) configured to be inserted into the cavity, where the insert (304) includes an electronic device (306a, 306b, 306c) having a sensor (1079) configured to generate a sensing signal (770). The shell (302) is configured to be advanced into the medical cartridge (600) by a plunger (760) to apply pressure to a substance (70) contained in the medical cartridge (600) and the shell is (302) configured to pass the sensing signal (770) there through. The sensor (1079) is configured to be responsive to the position of the stopper (300) in the medical cartridge (600). |
