abstract |
The present invention is a method for producing methionine which includes a crystallization step in which carbon dioxide is introduced into a liquid reaction mixture containing an alkali salt of methionine and obtained by hydrolyzing 5-[2-(methylthio)ethyl]imidazolidine-2,4-dione in the presence of an alkali compound, thereby precipitating the methionine, the method for producing methionine further including a step in which waste methionine is added to the liquid reaction mixture. According to the production method of the present invention, the methionine yield in production thereof can be improved. |
