titleOfInvention | Nitrate formation inhibition |
abstract | The invention relates to methods, uses and products for modulating the conversion of nitrogenous waste to nitrate. Typically the modulation involves decreasing the rate of conversion of nitrogenous waste to nitrate. In particular the invention relates to methods, uses and plant material for reducing the rate at which nitrogenous compounds excreted in the urine of an animal are lost from practical utility. Mechanisms of loss may involve nitrification and possibly denitrification to produce compounds that can be leached and/or released to the atmosphere as gaseous compounds. This invention has particular application to domesticated animals, particularly sheep and cows, although this should not be seen as limiting. |
