Provided is a hydrodesulfurization catalyst for hydrocarbon oil, the catalyst comprising an inorganic oxide carrier that includes tin, titanium, and aluminum and a metal constituent, supported by the inorganic oxide carrier, of at least one type chosen from the group consisting of the group 6 elements, the group 8 elements, the group 9 elements, and the group 10 elements. The hydrodesulfurization catalyst is configured such that the aluminum content of the inorganic oxide carrier is at least 50% by mass in terms of Al 2 O 3 , the tin content of the inorganic oxide carrier is 1.0–10% by mass in terms of SiO 2 , the titanium content of the inorganic oxide carrier is 12–28% by mass in terms of TiO 2 , and the absorption edge wavelength of the titanium-derived absorption peak of the inorganic oxide carrier as measured by ultraviolet spectroscopic analysis is 364 nm or less. |
