abstract According to the present invention, a hydrogel is formed by a reaction for inducing, in an electrolytic solution, an electrode product electrochemically generated at an electrode provided in the electrolytic solution. A device provided with an electrolytic solution tank in which a two-dimensional array of working electrodes is provided at the bottom surface thereof, and a counter electrode disposed in the electrolytic solution tank, is prepared. An electrolytic solution containing a solute which causes electrolytic deposition of a hydrogel is housed in the electrolytic solution tank. A predetermined voltage is applied to at least one of the working electrodes selected from the two-dimensional array to form a hydrogel having a two-dimensional pattern corresponding to the arrangement of the selected working electrodes.
