titleOfInvention Method for producing cellulose acetate flakes
abstract An objective of the present inventions is to provide a cellulose acetate having exceptional transparency. This method for producing cellulose acetate flakes comprises: (a) a step in which acetic anhydride is reacted with cellulose in the presence of an acid catalyst and an acetic acid solvent, thereby generating a cellulose acetate dope; (b) a step in which the generated cellulose acetate is hydrolyzed and the acetylation degree is adjusted to 52-59%; (c) a step in which the adjusted cellulose acetate is settled out in the presence of water; (d) a step in which the cellulose acetate obtained by the settling out process is dispersed in a mixed solvent comprising a solvent having a solubility parameter δ of 8-13 and a solvent having a solubility parameter δ of at least 14, thereby forming a slurry; and (e) a step in which cellulose acetate is separated from the slurry and made into flakes. The mixed solvent contains 30-70wt% of the solvent having a solubility parameter δ of 8-13.
