abstract An image projection device comprises: a light source 20 for emitting a beam; an image input unit 32 for inputting image data; a control unit 34 for generating an image beam based on the input image data and controlling the emission of the image beam from the light source 20; a scanning mirror 28 for scanning the image beam emitted from the light source 20; and a projection mirror 30 for irradiating the retina 62 of a user's eyeball 60 with the image beam scanned by the scanning mirror 28 to thus project an image onto the retina 62. When the image beam is incident on the cornea 68 of the eyeball 60, the diameter thereof is between 310 µm and 800 µm, inclusive.
