abstract Provided is a rotating electric machine comprising a stator, and a rotor that is disposed opposing the stator at the inner side in the radial direction of the stator. The rotor comprises: a magnetic field core having at least one boss, a pair of discs, and a plurality of claw-shaped magnetic poles; a magnetic field winding that is disposed between the at least one boss and the claw-shaped magnetic poles; a plurality of permanent magnets, each being disposed between a pair of claw-shaped magnetic poles that are adjacent in the circumferential direction; and an annular fixing member that is fixed to a radially inner area of each claw-shaped magnetic pole opposing the at least one boss, and that supports the claw-shaped magnetic poles from the inside in the radial direction. The following circuits have a common circuit part that is at least partially common therebetween: a d-axis magnetic circuit, in which a magnetic flux generated by a magnetomotive force of the magnetic field winding flows via the at least one boss, the discs, the pair of claw-shaped magnetic poles, and a stator core; and a magnet magnetic circuit, in which a flux generated by a magnetic force of one corresponding permanent magnet flows. When a magnetic field current is supplied to the magnetic field winding, the permeance of the d-axis magnetic circuit is less than the permeance of a q-axis magnetic circuit.
