Provided is an aluminium alloy foil which, when used in a battery packaging material, is capable of exhibiting excellent mouldability, and in which pin holes and cracks do not readily form even after moulding the battery packaging material. In the aluminium alloy foil for use in the battery packaging material, the ratio of the total area of the {111} plane in the total area of a crystal plane of a face-centered cubic lattice structure, said ratio being acquired by performing crystal analysis using the electron backscatter diffraction (EBSD) method, on a cross section obtained by cutting the aluminium alloy foil in the vertical direction from the surface of the aluminium alloy foil, said vertical direction being the rolling direction of the aluminium alloy foil, is 10% or higher. Furthermore, in the aluminium alloy foil, the number average crystal grain size R (µm) of crystals in the face-centered cubic lattice structure satisfies the formula number average crystal grain size R ≤ 0.056X+2.0, where X = the thickness (µm) of the aluminium alloy foil, said number average crystal grain size being acquired by performing crystal analysis using the EBSD method on the aforementioned cross section. |
