abstract | This alumina powder contains a hydroxycarboxylic acid and an alkali component. The crystal structure of the alumina is amorphous pseudo-boehmite or boehmite, and has features (1)-(4) below. (1) When the alumina powder and distilled water are mixed such that the Al 2 O 3 content is 2.5 mass%, a colloid dispersion (A) can be obtained without precipitation, the light transmittance of the colloid dispersion (A) being at least 80% as measured under the conditions of a wavelength of 500 nm and an optical path length of 10 mm. (2) When the alumina powder and distilled water are mixed such that the Al 2 O 3 content is 15 mass%, a colloid dispersion (B) can be obtained without precipitation. (3) The colloid dispersion (A) and the colloid dispersion (B) have a pH range of 5-8. (4) When the alumina powder and methanol are mixed such that the Al 2 O 3 content is 2.5 mass%, a colloid dispersion (C) can be obtained without precipitation, and the light transmittance of the colloid dispersion (C) is at least 80% as measured under the above conditions. |
