The invention relates to a method for reducing nitrogen oxide (NO X ) in exhaust gas flows (15) of metallurgical vessels or furnaces (2) in order to thermally and/or chemically treat metal-containing material, in particular iron-containing material, preferably molten metal, preferably molten iron, wherein during the operation of the vessel or the furnace (2), urea (19) is supplied to the respective resulting exhaust gas flow (15) conducted in an exhaust gas line (3) at a urea supply point (16) and reacted with the nitrogen oxide (NO x ) of the exhaust gas flow (15). The aim of the invention is to provide a solution which allows a denitrification of an exhaust gas resulting during a thermal and/or chemical treatment, in particular a metallurgical treatment, of a metal-containing material, in particular iron-containing material, even at low exhaust gas temperatures using urea. This is achieved in that the exhaust gas flow (15) is heated to a temperature between 400 °C and 1,000 °C, preferably between 600 °C and 800 °C, in the exhaust gas line (3) adjacently to the urea supply point (16) of the urea. |
