abstract The present invention relates to a method for producing synthetic hectorite at a low temperature and under atmospheric pressure and synthetic hectorite produced thereby and, more specifically, provides a method for producing synthetic hectorite and synthetic hectorite produced thereby, wherein the method introduces a step of forming an Li-Mg precipitate, thereby securing synthetic hectorite which has improved crystallization reaction conditions of a low temperature/atmospheric pressure and has excellent physical properties, and controls the composition ratio of reactants, thereby facilitating the control of the properties.
