abstract | [Problem] The present invention addresses the problem of providing: a composition that is stable to heat and light and that has a positive Δε, a liquid crystal phase within a wide temperature range, a low viscosity, good solubility at low temperature, and a high specific resistance and voltage holding ratio; and a liquid crystal display element of the FFS type, IPS type, TN type, or the like which employs the composition, thereby having excellent display quality, and less occurrence of display defects, such as burn-in and drip marks, with a high yield. [Solution] The present inventors have studied various liquid crystal compounds and various chemical substances to find that the problem can be solved by combining specific liquid crystal compounds, and have arrived at the present invention. Provided are a composition containing a compound represented by general formula (i), and a liquid crystal display element employing the composition. |
