titleOfInvention | Antibacterial protein sponge for chemotherapy of infected wounds and method for producing same |
abstract | The invention relates to macro-porous functional biomaterials based on natural biopolymers, and more particularly to macro-porous protein sponges which exhibit antibacterial activity and can be used for biomedical purposes. The proposed antibacterial sponge for chemotherapy of infected wounds includes serum albumin, or blood serum total protein, or blood plasma total protein, and also one or more agents with antibiotic activity toward pathogenic microorganisms that cause suppurative inflammations. A method for producing said protein sponge is proposed, which includes freezing a solution of raw ingredients at from -10°С to -30°С, keeping the solution in a frozen state, thawing, washing the resulting protein sponge, mechanically squeezing the liquid out of the washed protein sponge, swelling the squeezed sponge in a solution of one or more agents which exhibit antibiotic activity, freezing the swollen protein sponge, and freeze-drying same. The agents with antibiotic activity may be such drugs as vancomycin, lincomycin, clarithromycin, tobramycin, gentamycin or mixtures thereof, having a concentration in the sponge of 2 mass% or more. |
